HSBC Consumption Fund Three‑Year Performance Overview
HSBC Mutual Fund announced that its open‑ended equity scheme, the HSBC Consumption Fund, has completed three years since its launch in August 2023. Over this period, the fund delivered a cumulative return of 15.13% on the Regular Growth Option, marginally surpassing its designated benchmark, the Nifty India Consumption Total Return Index (TRI), which posted a 14.81% return.
The fund’s assets under management (AUM) reached ₹1,761.84 crore as of 31 July 2026. A hypothetical ₹1 lakh lump‑sum investment made at inception would have grown to ₹1,50,830 by the same date, compared with ₹1,49,640 for the benchmark. Similarly, a ₹10,000 monthly systematic investment plan (SIP) initiated at launch would have accumulated to ₹4,00,607, outpacing the benchmark’s ₹3,96,495.
The fund adheres to a consumption‑themed investment mandate, requiring a minimum of 80% of its portfolio to be allocated to companies that are either directly engaged in or expected to benefit from consumption‑related activities. As of the latest reporting date, the portfolio is diversified across several consumption‑driven segments, including consumer durables, automobiles, retailing, beverages, telecom services, healthcare services, and leisure services. The holdings span large‑cap, mid‑cap, and small‑cap stocks, providing exposure to various layers of the consumption ecosystem.
Management Commentary – Venugopal Manghat, Chief Investment Officer – Equities at HSBC Mutual Fund, highlighted that India’s consumption outlook is evolving beyond traditional growth narratives, driven by rising household incomes, favourable demographics, increasing financialisation, and broader access to products and services. He noted that these structural shifts are creating long‑term opportunities across consumption‑driven businesses and that the market is both broadening and premiumising.
The fund is managed by Anish Goenka, with Mayank Chaturvedi overseeing overseas investment activities.
