HSBC India Zero Forex Markup on Cards
HSBC India announced that, effective 15 August 2026 through 15 September 2026 inclusive, it will levy zero foreign‑exchange markup on every transaction made with any of its credit cards held by Indian resident customers. The promotion applies to the full HSBC credit‑card portfolio, specifically the HSBC Premier Credit Card, HSBC Taj Credit Card, HSBC Live+ Credit Card, HSBC TravelOne Credit Card and HSBC Platinum Credit Card. The HSBC Prive Credit Card and HSBC RuPay Cashback Card had already been offering zero forex markup since their launches in 2024 and 2025 respectively, and they continue to do so under the same terms.
During the offer period, both merchant point‑of‑sale and online foreign‑currency transactions will carry no forex markup, and customers will retain all existing rewards and benefits attached to their cards. HSBC also reiterated that its credit‑card holders are not charged a Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) fee; therefore, customers who elect to pay in Indian rupees while abroad avoid any additional DCC cost, a standing benefit that remains unchanged.
Commenting on the launch, Sandeep Batra, Head of International Wealth and Premier Banking at HSBC India, said, “At HSBC, we want our customers to get value on every international transaction whether they are travelling overseas, shopping on global websites, or paying for services overseas. By introducing zero forex mark‑up across all HSBC Credit Cards, we are ensuring customers can spend internationally with greater clarity and value, while continuing to enjoy the rewards and benefits that are already built on their cards.”
HSBC currently operates a network of 32 branches across 20 cities in India and has maintained a presence in the country for over 170 years, supporting customers in both domestic and global financial journeys.
