Huntington Ingalls Industries announced its High‑Yield Production Robotics (HYPR) program at the U.S. Navy League Sea‑Air‑Space Expo 2026.
The program, built with Dark Sea Labs, partners Path Robotics and GrayMatter to automate welding, material handling, surface treatment, and quality checks.
Proof‑of‑concept demos are slated for 2026 with a full pilot expected to launch in 2027, prompting a modest after‑hours stock rise.
Eric Chewning, HII EVP of maritime systems, said the HYPR team will accelerate shipbuilding throughput and strengthen the maritime base.
