i2Cool Launches i2Coating CorroCool
i2Cool, a technology company focused on electricity‑free cooling solutions, announced the launch of i2Coating CorroCool on 12 August 2026. The product is a silane‑based functional coating that integrates passive radiative cooling with C5 high‑durability corrosion protection and weather resistance for industrial metal surfaces.
The coating combines i2Cool’s passive radiative cooling materials with a high‑solids silane polymer system, applied at a recommended total dry‑film thickness of 200–250 µm. Laboratory testing recorded adhesion strength above 10 MPa, solar reflectance of at least 92%, and atmospheric‑window emittance of at least 95% within the 8–13 µm band, enabling continuous cooling without electricity. Corrosion performance meets ISO 12944‑6 C5 requirements, with salt‑spray resistance of at least 1,440 hours, acid and alkali resistance of at least 240 hours, and 1,500 hours of xenon‑arc weathering resulting in approximately 12% gloss loss and a Grade 1 colour‑change rating.
The coating’s cooling mechanism is inspired by the Sahara silver ant, using high solar reflectance and mid‑infrared emission to reflect sunlight and radiate heat toward the cold outer atmosphere. This dual function reduces surface and internal temperatures, lowers cooling loads, and limits temperature‑related losses such as volatile material evaporation from storage tanks.
CorroCool is targeted at metal‑roofed industrial buildings, petrochemical storage tanks, outdoor telecommunications and electrical cabinets, as well as power facilities, offshore and coastal infrastructure, industrial pipelines, metal containers, and outdoor manufacturing equipment. The integrated primer‑and‑topcoat formulation eliminates the need for separate anticorrosive primers and thermal‑control topcoats, simplifying field application, reducing labor costs, and shortening project schedules.
Development of CorroCool was supported technically by Kinte Materials Science and Technology Co, a subsidiary of China National Electric Apparatus Research Institute under SINOMACH, which contributed formulation and industrial anticorrosion expertise. The launch expands i2Cool’s portfolio from building‑energy applications into broader industrial asset protection, offering industries such as petrochemicals, telecommunications, power generation, and manufacturing a lower‑maintenance approach to managing heat and corrosion.
