Conference Inauguration and Key Dignitaries
On 3 August 2026, the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) inaugurated its 5th International Conference in Mauritius. The ceremony was attended by Dr the Hon Mrs Jyoti Jeetun, Minister of Financial Services and Economic Planning, Republic of Mauritius, who served as the chief guest, and Mr Anurag Srivastava, High Commissioner of India in Port Louis, who was the guest of honour.
Theme, Programme and Study Tour
The three‑day conference, held from 3 to 5 August, was organised under the theme “Strengthening Governance in VUCA World.” It will conclude with a study tour of the Ministry of Financial Services and Economic Planning, Government of Mauritius, scheduled for 5 August 2026.
Remarks from Dignitaries
Minister Jyoti Jeetun emphasized that “growth without resilience is fragile” and highlighted the need for boards to shift from mere compliance to adaptive strategies, positioning the Company Secretary as a crucial boardroom advisor in a geopolitically driven market. High Commissioner Anurag Srivastava underscored the role of Company Secretaries as strategic enablers of investment and cross‑border commerce, noting that enhanced transparency and accountability build the governance architecture required to translate shared ambitions into tangible economic growth.
Special Session on Mauritius IFC
Mrs Dovinassy Pillay Naiken, Acting Director of the Financial Services Unit, Ministry of Financial Services and Economic Planning, Mauritius, delivered a special session on the Mauritius International Financial Centre (IFC), outlining the island’s robust regulatory framework and its potential to strengthen the India‑Africa corridor.

Announcement of Global Governance Conference
ICSI announced a subsequent Global Governance Conference to be held on 8 – 9 January 2027 in Mumbai, India. The event will bring together dignitaries, government officials, corporate leaders, academicians and regulators to chart the course for responsible business worldwide.

CS Pawan G Chandak, President of ICSI, stated that governance for the future relies heavily on agile leadership, transparency and AI‑powered innovation, and that ICSI is pioneering new benchmarks for corporate oversight while empowering professionals to bridge cross‑border trust.
