The disclosure reports that IEX achieved a total monthly electricity traded volume of 12,983 MU in May 2026, representing an 18.6% year-on-year increase. The exchange also traded 6.10 lakh Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) during the month, though this represented a 65% decline year-on-year.

Electricity Market Performance

Day-Ahead Market (DAM): Achieved volume of 4,417 MU in May'26, increasing 24.9% YoY from 3,535 MU in May'25. The average market clearing price was ₹4.88 per unit, up 18.3% YoY. Strong demand drove buy bids up 77% YoY, while sell bids rose 30% YoY.

Real-Time Market (RTM): Volume increased to 5,529 MU in May'26 from 4,770 MU in May'25, registering 15.9% YoY growth. The average RTM market clearing price was ₹4.16 per unit, up 21.2% YoY.

Term-Ahead Market (TAM): Including Day Ahead Contingency and contracts up to 3 months, traded 2,004 MU in May'26 compared to 1,726 MU in May'25, an increase of 16.1% YoY.

Green Market Performance

The Green Market, comprising Green Day-Ahead and Green Term-Ahead Market segments, achieved 1,034 MU volume during May'26 compared to 915 MU in May'25, a 13% YoY increase. The weighted average price in Green Day-Ahead Market (G-DAM) was ₹3.60 per unit, remaining largely flat year-on-year.

Renewable Energy Certificate Market

A total of 6.10 lakh RECs were traded in May'26, down 65% YoY. Trading sessions were held on 13th May'26 and 29th May'26, with clearing price of ₹400 per REC. Sell bids declined by 85.3% YoY, contributing to higher clearing prices. The next REC trading sessions are scheduled for 10th June'26 and 24th June'26.
