Overview
IIFL Finance Limited announced on 15 September 2026 that it has successfully completed a tokenised bond issuance of ₹25 crore, becoming the first non‑public‑sector (non‑PSU) non‑banking financial company (NBFC) in India to execute such a transaction.
Transaction Details
The bonds were issued on the Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India (MSEI) under the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s (SEBI) Regulatory Sandbox framework for securities tokenisation. Trust Investment Advisors Private Limited acted as the sole arranger and advisor for the deal. The tokenised securities will be listed for trading on the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE). Tokenisation was achieved through blockchain and distributed‑ledger technology, which the company says enhances efficiency, transparency and speed in debt‑market processes.
Management Commentary
Govind Modani, Chief Treasury Officer of IIFL Finance, stated that being the first non‑PSU NBFC to participate in India’s emerging tokenised bond ecosystem demonstrates the company’s commitment to adopting new‑age technology to make capital‑market transactions more efficient, transparent and future‑ready, while gaining experience in blockchain‑enabled issuance and settlement.
Significance
The transaction represents a milestone for digital debt capital markets in India and signals growing adoption of technology‑led solutions among NBFCs.
