Admissions Update
The IIT Bombay–Washington University Executive MBA programme announces that admissions for Cohort 12 are in the final stretch. Round 4 has been extended to 18 October 2026, with the ultimate round closing in November, and the cohort will commence in January 2027. Seats are limited, and candidates are urged to apply early to improve their chances of securing a place.
Programme Overview (India‑focused)
The 18‑month joint degree is offered jointly by IIT Bombay’s Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management and Washington University’s Olin Business School, but the Indian component is delivered on the IIT Bombay campus in Mumbai. Classes are held in four‑day residential sessions each month, from Thursday to Sunday. The curriculum covers leadership, strategy, finance, marketing and operations, and participants receive one‑on‑one leadership coaching.
Rankings and Strategic Goals
In the QS Executive MBA Rankings for joint programmes, the programme moved from 24th in 2022 to 22nd in 2023, 18th in 2024 and reached 16th globally in 2025. At the launch of Batch 11, Prof. Dinesh Sharma stated the next target is to break into the global top‑five.
Alumni and Cohort Experience
Batch 10, launched on 15 January 2025, comprised senior managers, CEOs, entrepreneurs and directors from organisations such as Oracle India, Aditya Birla Group, Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, Godrej Industries, Apple India, Adani and TCS, with an average of 17 years of work experience across more than 15 industries. Batch 11, launched on 14 January 2026, included members from technology, manufacturing, finance, consulting, healthcare, energy and consumer businesses, also averaging 17 years of experience. Graduates now hold senior roles across industries and geographies, and the programme’s alumni network provides lifetime access to career services and dual‑university privileges.
Leadership
Gopal Shukla, an alumnus of the IIT Bombay‑WashU EMBA, serves as CEO of the IIT Bombay‑WashU Joint Venture and emphasizes the programme’s aim to deliver a strong learning experience over the 18‑month period.
Excluded Content
Details pertaining to the international component—residencies in Washington, D.C., St. Louis, sessions at the Brookings Institution, and the role of Washington University’s Olin Business School—have been omitted as they are not India‑specific.
