IN-SPACe's Contributions to Antariksh Venture Capital Fund
The Department of Space provided an update on the Antariksh Venture Capital Fund (AVCF) through a parliamentary question response. The fund received SEBI approval on October 31, 2025, and is now operational as a SEBI-registered Category II Alternative Investment Fund (AIF).
As of July 24, 2026, IN-SPACe has contributed a total of ₹188.93 crore to the Antariksh Venture Capital Fund in accordance with the Contribution Agreement. This amount includes ₹182.87 crore contributed during the current fiscal year 2026-27 alone, based on investment requirements communicated by the Fund Manager.
Investment Strategy and Startup Selection
The fund's primary investment objective is to provide equity capital to emerging space-tech startups at various stages of development, supporting technology development, commercialization, and scaling of operations. The Investment Strategy targets investments that empower startups to contribute to India's broader space ambitions, with all investments subject to SEBI (Alternative Investment Funds) Regulations, the Private Placement Memorandum, and other Fund Documents.
The Investment Committee of the Antariksh Venture Capital Fund has selected three startups for investment, though specific company names or investment amounts were not disclosed in the response.
Impact Assessment and Future Outlook
Currently, no quantified estimate of the percentage growth in India's space economy attributable solely to the Venture Capital Fund is available. The investments under the fund are intended to provide capital to eligible space-sector startups, with the overall impact on the space economy to be assessed over time based on the performance of portfolio startups and companies.
