Indian Railways has approved ₹170 crore for the implementation of Kavach Version 4.0, the indigenous Automatic Train Protection system, on the remaining 712 route kilometers of the Moradabad Division under Northern Railway. This investment will strengthen the division's railway safety infrastructure through deployment of advanced train protection technology that prevents Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD) and automatically applies brakes to avert unsafe situations.
The Kavach system is designed to control train speed in critical conditions and significantly reduce collision risks, providing an advanced safety layer for train operations across the identified sections. This initiative represents part of Indian Railways' continued efforts to expand Kavach coverage across its network and modernize railway signalling and train protection systems. The approval was announced on September 1, 2026, through the Press Information Bureau.
