Acquisition Overview

Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX, OTCQX: IFNNY) disclosed that it will acquire C2i Semiconductors, a Bangalore‑based technology firm that develops software‑defined multiphase controllers and smart power stages specifically for AI data‑center applications. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of calendar year 2026.

Strategic Rationale

The acquisition is positioned to strengthen Infineon’s leadership in power solutions for AI data centers and to accelerate the rollout of software‑defined power architectures that span from the electrical grid to the core of AI servers. By integrating C2i’s differentiated expertise in intelligent digital power management, multiphase controllers, and system‑level power architectures—including Substrate Integrated Voltage Regulators (SIVR)—Infineon aims to expand its innovation footprint in India and reinforce the country’s role as a strategic R&D hub.

Financial & Operational Highlights

Infineon employs approximately 2,800 staff in India, contributing to one of the world’s most dynamic semiconductor ecosystems. Globally, the company reported around 57,000 employees at the end of September 2025 and generated revenue of about €14.7 billion for the fiscal year ending 30 September 2025. The acquisition does not disclose a purchase price but is expected to complement Infineon’s existing portfolio of silicon, silicon‑carbide (SiC) and gallium‑nitride (GaN) power technologies.

Statements from Executives

Adam White, President of Infineon’s Power Systems division, said the deal will create a new centre of excellence for digital power technologies in India and will enable Infineon to deliver significant value to customers through accelerated innovation in AI data‑center power delivery. Ram Anant, Founder and CEO of C2i Semiconductors, highlighted that joining Infineon provides access to world‑class semiconductor technologies, manufacturing capabilities and a global customer base, which together will speed the development of software‑defined power architectures for AI infrastructure worldwide.

Technology Integration

Software‑defined power solutions combine advanced power semiconductors with intelligent digital control and software algorithms to optimise conversion efficiency, regulation and overall system performance in real time. As AI processors become increasingly powerful, they generate highly dynamic and rapidly changing power demands; the integrated digital control enables faster, more precise responses to load fluctuations while maintaining efficiency and stability. C2i’s system‑level approach, covering the power path from grid to core, aligns with Infineon’s broad portfolio and paves the way for future SIVR implementations.

Infineon India Presence

The acquisition adds specialised expertise to Infineon’s existing R&D network in India, where the company already has roughly 2,800 employees. This expansion is intended to deepen Infineon’s engineering capabilities and reinforce India’s strategic importance in the company’s global innovation strategy.
