On August 23, 2026, the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Kolkata Chapter held its 56th Annual General Meeting at the Saturday Club in Kolkata. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of the “Visionary Leadership & Philanthropy Award” to Shri Ravindra Chamaria, Chairman and Managing Director of Infinity Group, in the presence of Tabla Maestro Pandit Tanmoy Bose and PRSI leadership.
Award and Recipient Profile
Shri Ravindra Chamaria, a first‑generation entrepreneur, was recognised for his role in shaping Kolkata’s green real‑estate and information‑technology sectors through iconic projects, including the development of Krishna Bhumi – a 110‑acre township in Vrindavan centred around the world’s tallest Krishna Temple. His philanthropic activities span support for the Institute of Neurosciences Kolkata, The Jaipur Foot, the Akshaya Patra Foundation, Round Table India, Udayan Care Kolkata Chapter and Vidya Bharati. Academic honours include an Honorary Doctorate of Letters (D.Litt.) from Techno India University awarded in July 2026 and an Honorary Ph.D. in Management from ASBM University, Odisha, conferred in 2025. In his acceptance remarks, Chamaria emphasized the alignment of business excellence with “Consistency, Concentration, and Cooperative Endeavour” to create societal value.
Government Participation and Tourism Announcement
Dr. Shankar Ghosh, Minister‑in‑Charge of the Departments of Parliamentary Affairs and Tourism, attended as a special guest. He highlighted the strategic importance of public relations for governance and announced that the West Bengal Tourism Department’s new logo will be unveiled on September 4, 2026. He outlined a tourism roadmap built on four pillars – revenue generation, eco‑friendly tourism, employment creation, and a welcoming perception – with a focus on lower‑middle‑class travellers and infrastructure upgrades.
PRSI “No Honking” Campaign
During the AGM, the PRSI Kolkata Chapter launched a “No Honking” awareness drive under the slogan “Less Noise, More Courtesy”. The initiative targets reduction of unnecessary honking near hospitals, schools, busy junctions and residential zones, urging citizens to reflect before honking. Vice‑Chairman Aninda Das and Chapter Chairman Soumyajit Mahapatra stressed that a quieter city enhances comfort and reflects civic discipline.
Cultural Segment
The event featured a special rendition of “Vande Mataram” performed by Kolkata Calling, with Chairman Mahapatra noting the performance celebrated collective pride and unity.
