Intel Upsizes Stock Offering to $20 Billion
Intel Corporation announced on Monday evening that it has enlarged its planned secondary equity offering from $15 billion to $20 billion. The shares will be priced at $95 each, representing a 6.5 % discount to the closing price on the preceding Friday. The company is offering 210.5 million shares of common stock and has granted the underwriters a 30‑day option to purchase up to an additional 31.6 million shares at the same price.
The proceeds from the offering are expected to total approximately $19.7 billion, which Intel says will be used for general corporate purposes, including funding its ongoing manufacturing capacity expansion. The disclosure follows a Bloomberg report earlier in the day that the chipmaker intended to increase the size of the offering.
Intel’s stock has nearly tripled year‑to‑date, reflecting renewed optimism about its turnaround plan. On the day of the announcement, the share price fell more than 4 % during regular trading but recovered to a 0.9 % gain in after‑hours trading.
