Intuitive Surgical India Pvt Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of Intuitive Surgical Inc (Nasdaq: ISRG), announced the introduction of the da Vinci 5, its latest‑generation multi‑port robotic‑assisted surgical system, to selected hospitals and programs in India.
Platform Enhancements
The da Vinci 5 builds on the da Vinci Xi platform and incorporates more than 150 enhancements, notably first‑of‑its‑kind Force Feedback technology that conveys push and pull forces to the surgeon’s console hand controls, a highly realistic 3‑D vision system, an ergonomic immersive console, and an integrated workflow with a universal user interface and dynamic assistance to automate select tasks. The system is powered by an intelligent platform delivering approximately 10,000 times greater computing power, new sensors, software and advanced processors that generate actionable insights to quantify and improve surgical performance.
Clinical Reach and Evidence
Globally, the da Vinci 5 has been used by over 15,000 surgeons and contributes to a body of more than 50,000 peer‑reviewed publications related to Intuitive technologies. In India, surgeons have performed more than 200,000 procedures using Intuitive’s da Vinci systems, supported by a community of over 2,000 robotic‑assisted trained surgeons and more than 275 da Vinci systems installed across major private and government hospitals. The Indian evidence base includes 50 clinical studies.
Indications and Clearance
The da Vinci 5 is cleared for use in urologic, gynaecologic, general, cardiac and thoracoscopic surgical procedures in India.
