The company received a letter from the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, dated July 16, 2026. The letter conveyed that the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of IRCTC will fall vacant on July 20, 2026. This vacancy is a result of the relieving of the incumbent, Shri Sanjay Kumar Jain, consequent to the approval of his resignation by the Competent Authority, effective from July 20, 2026.
The Ministry of Railways has decided to entrust the additional charge of the post of CMD to Shri Rahul Himalian, who is currently the Director (Tourism & Marketing) of IRCTC. He will hold this additional charge in conjunction with his existing duties. This additional charge is effective from July 20, 2026, and is for a period of three months or until further orders are issued, whichever is earlier.
