Project Overview

Jagmag Lights Private Limited, a Greater Noida‑based decorative lighting manufacturer, was commissioned to create all lighting fixtures for the Golden Dragon restaurant’s North India debut at the Taj Surajkund Resort & Spa, Delhi NCR. The restaurant, originally opened in 1973 at The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai, serves Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine and required a blend of classical Oriental design with modern minimalism.

Design and Installation Details

The lighting suite includes two hexagonal lanterns suspended on red cords above a deep‑green banquette, an alabaster pendant on dark chains for a private round‑table setting, and tiered chandeliers with patterned cream shades descending from a gold‑toned vaulted ceiling. Additional slim brass‑toned wall lights highlight framed artworks. Materials used comprise alabaster (allowing natural veining to create unique light patterns), brass, glass drops, and natural stone, ensuring each piece is distinct and complementary to the plum‑blossom motif and gold‑green accents of the interior.

Production Process and Lead Time

Jagmag follows a fixed‑sequence custom‑lighting process: a design reference is captured, the scale is locked, and the company finalises design, finish and structure before fabrication begins at its own factory in Greater Noida. Quality checks and packing are completed in‑house. Once the design is locked, most custom pieces are ready within 15 to 20 working days. The company emphasises durability, stating that fixtures must remain serviceable for daily lunch and dinner service and that spares will be retained for at least ten years.

Company Background

Founded in 2015 by co‑founders and MD Chirag Chaudhary and Upasana Singh, Jagmag Lights designs and manufactures designer chandeliers, bespoke wall lights, pendant lights and other custom lighting solutions. The firm works with materials such as brass, marble, natural stone, alabaster and crystal, and supplies hospitality, architectural and residential clients across India and internationally, including the Hyatt Regency in Addis Ababa. Jagmag Lights is a DPIIT‑recognised startup.

Client Perspective

Golden Dragon’s management sought lighting that felt Chinese in spirit yet contemporary, that would not overpower the artwork, and that could endure continuous operation. Co‑founder Chirag Chaudhary highlighted the importance of an Indian‑made solution for a Taj venue, while co‑founder Upasana Singh noted that the goal was to provide generous illumination without being louder than the surrounding art.
