Overview
On June 11, 2026, in Sonipat, Jindal Global Business School (JGBS) of O.P. Jindal Global University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chetak Foundation, the skill‑development arm of the Chetak Group, to launch an immersive industry course focused on transport operations. The partnership is designed to move JGBS students from classroom learning to live‑field experience within Chetak’s operational ecosystem, including warehouses, fleet control centres and freight corridors.
Institutional Context
JGBS is ranked as India’s top private university B‑school in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 and is placed among the top 200 business schools globally. The Chetak Group, headquartered in New Delhi, is an established multimodal logistics player with operations spanning road transport, warehousing, freight forwarding and integrated supply‑chain solutions for a broad cross‑section of Indian industry. The Chetak Foundation focuses on building employability and industry‑ready skills for India’s young workforce.
Market Rationale
The global multimodal transport market is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of roughly six to seven percent over the next decade, a trajectory that is expected to generate substantial career and growth opportunities for students, budding entrepreneurs and the logistics sector’s demand for managerial talent with both operational and analytical expertise.
Course Design and Delivery
The course structure provides analytical readiness in the classroom before students step into live environments. Under the MoU, students will receive structured access to Chetak’s ecosystem through internships, on‑site visits to warehouses, transport yards and freight hubs, and industry‑led sessions delivered by senior logistics and supply‑chain professionals from the Chetak Group. Key cooperation areas include a knowledge partnership for supply‑chain and logistics courses, industry guest lectures on the JGU campus, and joint research between Chetak professionals and JGBS faculty.
Leadership Statements
Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice‑Chancellor of JGU, emphasized that logistics is central to India’s development and that the partnership enables students to observe and solve real‑world supply‑chain challenges. Mr. Mukesh Haritash, Managing Director of the Chetak Group, expressed enthusiasm for bridging academic excellence with practical industry needs to equip the next generation of logistics leaders. Professor (Dr.) Dabiru Sridhar Patnaik, Registrar of JGU, highlighted the alignment of the Foundation’s skill‑development mandate with long‑running student engagements. Dean of JGBS, Professor (Dr.) Mayank Dhaundiyal, noted that live problem statements drawn directly from Chetak’s operations will complement classroom case work, simulations and experiential learning, ensuring graduates possess both strong academic credentials and industry judgment.
Student Experience
Students will work on live problem statements covering network design, fleet utilisation, warehousing efficiency and last‑mile delivery, translating classroom concepts into real business settings. The collaboration will also bring senior Chetak leadership to the JGU campus for guest sessions, providing insight into operational decision‑making within a functioning logistics business.
