Press Release – JIIT Academic and Research Expansion (28 Oct 2026)

Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), a private deemed‑to‑be university in the Delhi NCR region, issued a press release on 28 October 2026 outlining a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening its academic and research ecosystem. Established in 2001 and granted deemed‑to‑be university status under Section 3 of the UGC Act in 2004, JIIT holds NAAC accreditation and AICTE approval for applicable programmes. The institute has been featured among the top 150 engineering institutions in the Ministry of Education’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) each year since 2016.

Programme Expansion

The university has broadened its curriculum to incorporate emerging‑technology programmes: Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber Security, Robotics and AI, and VLSI Design and Technology. These programmes are intended to equip students with specialised technical knowledge, analytical thinking, problem‑solving abilities and practical applications of cutting‑edge technologies.

New Laboratory Infrastructure

To complement classroom instruction, JIIT has established several specialised laboratories: a 5G Use Case Lab, an AI Skill Lab, a Fortinet Cyber Security Lab and an Apple Lab. These facilities enable students and researchers to conduct experiments, develop industry‑relevant skills and explore technological applications.

Research Output and Supercomputing Capability

According to the institute’s website, JIIT has produced 7,542 research publications and secured 90 funded projects across multiple disciplines. A flagship infrastructure development is the Ramanujan Universe supercomputing facility, equipped with eight NVIDIA A100 GPUs, six computing nodes, 4.5 TB of RAM and 500 TB of usable storage. This high‑performance platform supports computationally intensive research, including AI applications, advanced simulations and data‑driven scientific investigations.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship

JIIT promotes innovation through its Research, Innovation, Development and Entrepreneurship (RIDE) startup incubation programme. The programme currently supports 15 startups, fostering entrepreneurial development among students and researchers.

Industry and International Collaborations

The institute has forged collaborations with industry partners such as Wipro and the Airports Authority of India, as well as academic partnerships with the University of Florida, Charles Sturt University (Australia), University of York, Iowa State University and other institutions. These collaborations aim to facilitate knowledge exchange, strengthen academic engagement and create industry‑oriented learning opportunities.

Placement Outcomes

The university’s Training and Placement Cell reported that more than 494 companies visited the campus for recruitment of the 2026 graduating batch. The highest reported placement package for the batch was ₹94.25 lakh.

Overall Significance

Through the introduction of AI‑centric programmes, the establishment of advanced labs, the deployment of a high‑performance supercomputing facility, and the expansion of industry and international partnerships, JIIT seeks to enhance its research capabilities, promote entrepreneurship and improve career outcomes for its students, thereby contributing to the evolving demands of a technology‑driven economy.
