NCVET and Jindal Stainless Ltd. Sign Awarding Body Agreement
The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) and Jindal Stainless Ltd. signed an agreement on 18 September 2026 granting NCVET recognition to Jindal Stainless Ltd. as an Awarding Body for pan-India operations. This recognition enables the company to award, assess, and certify learners for training directly imparted by the Awarding Body at its own campuses or at training centers owned or fully managed by it, specifically for its approved or adopted qualifications.
The agreement signing ceremony was chaired by Smt. Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Chairperson of NCVET. Senior officials from MSDE/NCVET in attendance included Sh. Niranjan Kumar Sudhanshu (Additional Secretary, MSDE and Executive Member, NCVET), Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Gaba (Executive Member, NCVET), Lt. Col. Vikram Singh Bhati (Director, NCVET), and Lt. Col. Saurabh S Bisht (Director, NCVET). The Jindal Stainless Ltd. delegation comprised Sh. Vijay Sharma (Director – Corporate Affairs), Ms. Bhavna Chopra Srikrishna (Head – Stainless Academy), and Sh. Happy Lamba.
Qualification and Operational Scope
The National Skills Qualification Committee (NSQC) has approved the first qualification under this recognition: 'Stainless Steel Decorative Pipe & Tube Manufacturing Operator' in the Capital Goods Sector at NSQF Level 4. This role involves operating, monitoring, and maintaining equipment used in the production of decorative stainless steel pipes and tubes, including raw material handling, machine setup, forming, welding, polishing/finishing, inspection, and packaging. The operator is also responsible for ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards while meeting productivity targets.
Implementation Through Stainless Academy
The initiative will be anchored at Stainless Academy, the education and skilling initiative of Jindal Stainless that focuses on building a skilled blue- and white-collar workforce for the stainless steel ecosystem. The academy provides industry-aligned training, curriculum development, specialized courses for ITIs, polytechnics and engineering colleges, and MSME cluster development programs.
This recognition will enable Jindal Stainless Ltd. to develop NSQC-approved, industry-led qualifications and certification programs across manufacturing, processing, fabrication, and other applications of stainless steel, creating a formal framework for skill development within the stainless steel industry.
