Overview

Jio has released a side‑by‑side comparison of its wired broadband offering, Jio Fiber, and its fixed‑wireless service, JioAirFiber. Both product lines target residential broadband users and present overlapping price points, speeds, and OTT (over‑the‑top) content bundles. The key decision factors are infrastructure availability, installation time, and monthly data usage.

Jio Fiber Plans

| Monthly Price (Rs) | Speed | Data | OTT Included |

| 399 | 30 Mbps | Unlimited | No OTT |

| 699 | 100 Mbps | Unlimited | No OTT |

| 999 | 150 Mbps | Unlimited | JioHotstar, Amazon Prime Lite, SonyLiv, ZEE5, Discovery+ and 9 more apps (no Netflix) |

| 1,499 | 300 Mbps | Unlimited | Netflix Basic, YouTube Premium, JioHotstar, Amazon Prime Lite, SonyLiv, ZEE5 and more |

| 2,499 | 500 Mbps | Unlimited | Netflix Standard, YouTube Premium, JioHotstar, Amazon Prime Lite, SonyLiv, ZEE5 and more |

| 3,999 | 1 Gbps | Unlimited | Netflix Standard, YouTube Premium, JioHotstar, Amazon Prime Lite, SonyLiv, ZEE5 and more |

All plans are delivered via a dedicated fiber‑optic cable that runs from the street directly to the home, guaranteeing that the subscribed speed is available even during peak hours. OTT bundles start only from the Rs 999 tier, with Netflix entering the lineup at Rs 1,499 for the 300 Mbps plan.

JioAirFiber Plans

| Monthly Price (Rs) | Speed | Data (Fair Usage) | OTT Included |

| 599 | 30 Mbps | 1 TB (after which speed drops to 64 Kbps) | 14 OTT apps + 550 TV channels (no Netflix) |

| 899 | 100 Mbps | 1 TB (64 Kbps thereafter) | 14 OTT apps + 550 TV channels (no Netflix) |

| 1,199 | 100 Mbps | 1 TB (64 Kbps thereafter) | 16 OTT apps + 550 TV channels, including Netflix Basic and Amazon Prime Lite |

| 1,499 | 300 Mbps | 1 TB (64 Kbps thereafter) | OTT bundle with streaming apps |

| 2,499 | 500 Mbps | 1 TB (64 Kbps thereafter) | OTT bundle with Netflix Standard |

| 3,999 | 1 Gbps | 1 TB (64 Kbps thereafter) | OTT bundle with Netflix Premium |

JioAirFiber uses a small outdoor unit that captures a 5G signal from the nearest Jio tower and an indoor router to distribute Wi‑Fi. No cable laying or building‑access negotiations are required, and the entire installation is completed within 24 to 48 hours. Each plan carries a 1 TB fair‑usage limit; excess usage is throttled to 64 Kbps.

Key Differences

  • Delivery Method: Jio Fiber relies on a physical fiber‑optic cable; JioAirFiber relies on 5G wireless from a nearby tower.
  • Installation: Fiber installation depends on building access and can take longer; AirFiber is installed in 24‑48 hours.
  • Data Policy: Fiber offers truly unlimited data; AirFiber imposes a 1 TB fair‑usage cap with throttling thereafter.
  • Peak‑Hour Performance: Fiber provides consistent, dedicated bandwidth; AirFiber performance varies with local tower load and congestion.
  • OTT Inclusion: AirFiber includes OTT apps from the base Rs 599 plan; Fiber adds OTT only from Rs 999, with Netflix starting at Rs 1,499.
  • Pricing for Netflix: For Netflix Basic at 100 Mbps, AirFiber costs Rs 1,199, which is Rs 300 cheaper than the equivalent Fiber tier (Rs 1,499 for 300 Mbps).

Choosing the Right Option

  • Select Jio Fiber if the building already has fiber infrastructure, you require stable high‑speed connectivity for gaming or frequent video calls, you exceed 1 TB of monthly data, or you need the fastest speeds at higher tiers.
  • Select JioAirFiber if fiber has not reached your building, you are a renter or may move within a year, you need the connection operational within 48 hours, your primary use is streaming and browsing rather than heavy file transfers, or you want Netflix Basic at a lower monthly price.
  • Before subscribing to AirFiber, verify signal strength at your address via the MyJio app, as performance depends on proximity to the nearest 5G tower and its congestion level.

Billing via Bajaj Finance

Both broadband services use monthly billing. Payments can be made through the BBPS platform on the Bajaj Finance app or website. The process involves opening the app, navigating to Bills & Recharges → Broadband, selecting Jio as the provider, entering the registered account ID or mobile number, reviewing the bill amount, choosing a payment method, and confirming to receive an instant BBPS receipt.

Market Context

According to TRAI data, over 7.4 million households were already using fixed‑wireless connections such as JioAirFiber by May 2025, indicating broad adoption and reliability of the technology in covered areas.
