Reliance Industries Limited submitted a media release from its subsidiary Jio Platforms Limited to the stock exchanges regarding the company's achievement in global patent rankings.
Jio Platforms Limited surged into the global top 20 in the latest Patent Co-operation Treaty (PCT) rankings released by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). The company climbed 320 places on the list for year 2025, reaching the 20th position, making it one of the fastest-rising innovators globally. This achievement makes Jio Platforms the only Indian technology innovator to break into the Global Top-20.
The company's patent portfolio is focused on next-generation digital technologies including 5G, 5G Advanced, 6G, artificial intelligence, AI-native networks, cloud-native platforms, intelligent automation, radio access, core network software, edge intelligence, fixed wireless access, network slicing and digital services infrastructure.
As of March 31, 2026, Jio Platforms reported cumulative patent filings of 6,817 patents. The breakdown includes:
- 2,393 patents filed in India
- 4,424 patents filed across foreign jurisdictions
- Total of 1,009 patents granted globally
- 538 patents granted in India
- 471 patents granted in international markets
Akash M. Ambani, Managing Director of Jio Platforms Limited, commented that this achievement reflects years of efforts towards transforming into a deep-tech company and demonstrates the velocity of innovation at Jio across multiple advanced technologies. He dedicated the achievement to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The 320-rank jump to the 20th place is particularly notable as it occurred in a year when global PCT filings grew by less than 1% globally. This ranking represents important external recognition of Jio Platforms' R&D productivity and intellectual property depth.
This disclosure was submitted to BSE Limited, National Stock Exchange of India Limited, Luxembourg Stock Exchange, and Singapore Exchange Limited for information and records.
