JSW Energy Limited has completed the acquisition of 100% equity shares of Maruti Clean Coal and Power Limited (MCCPL), making MCCPL a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company. • Acquired Entity: Maruti Clean Coal and Power Limited (MCCPL)
  • Acquisition Structure: 100% equity share purchase
  • Enterprise Value: ₹1,410 crore
  • FY26 EBITDA: Approximately ₹279 crore

Asset Description

MCCPL owns and operates a 300 MW thermal power plant located in Korba, Chhattisgarh. The plant features:

Operational Impact

With this acquisition, JSW Energy's total installed capacity increases to 14,835 MW (14.8 GW). The asset is immediately EBITDA and PAT-accretive and reduces the Company's net leverage while strengthening balance sheet resilience.

Strategic Rationale

According to Mr. Sharad Mahendra, Joint Managing Director and CEO, the acquisition reinforces JSW Energy's commitment to disciplined growth and value-accretive opportunities. The asset complements the existing generation portfolio and enhances the ability to deliver dependable power. Additional upside is expected from optimization of logistics and O&M costs due to the plant's proximity to JSW Energy's Mahanadi facility, unlocking operational synergies and strengthening regional thermal footprint.

Current Portfolio Context

JSW Energy currently operates:

  • Thermal Capacity: 5,958 MW operational
  • Under Construction: 3,800 MW at Salboni and Mahanadi Thermal Power Plants
  • Brownfield Expansion: 1,200 MW pipeline at Mahanadi
  • Total Locked-in Generation Capacity: 32.4 GW (14.8 GW operational + 13.6 GW under construction)
  • Energy Storage Capacity: 29.6 GWh locked-in (26.4 GWh pumped hydro storage + 3.2 GWh battery energy storage systems)

Strategic Targets

The company aims to reach 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030, with carbon neutrality target by 2050.
