Contract Announcement

JSW Thermal Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited, has entered into a contract with Toshiba JSW Power Systems Private Limited ("Toshiba JSW"), an associate company, for procurement of two 800 MW steam turbine generators (TG) for Phase II of the Salboni Thermal Project in West Bengal.

Project Context

With this order, the Company has completed the placement of turbine-generator equipment orders for the entire 3,200 MW (4 x 800 MW) Salboni Thermal Power Project. This follows the earlier placement of orders for Phase 1 units comprising 2 x 800 MW, which was intimated on 15th January 2026.

The turbine-generator package will be manufactured and supplied in line with the project's construction schedule, supporting timely completion and commissioning of the plant.

Strategic Benefits

By sourcing key equipment through an associate company, the Company aims to enhance supply chain certainty, improve coordination during execution, and reduce risks arising from industry-wide equipment shortages.

Current Capacity Status

JSW Energy currently has:

  • Installed thermal generation capacity: 5,958 MW
  • Under construction capacity: 5,000 MW comprising:

  • 1,800 MW at JSW Mahanadi Power Company Limited (JMPCL)

Management Commentary

Mr. Sharad Mahendra, Joint Managing Director and CEO of JSW Energy, stated: "Our second turbine generator contract with Toshiba JSW fully secures the TG requirement for the entire 3,200 MW at Salboni, our largest single-location thermal asset, and keeps both phases firmly on track for timely completion at a time when critical equipment supply remains tight. This builds on our partnership with Toshiba, which dates back to 2008."
