JSW Steel Limited (Scrip Code: 500228, NSE Symbol: JSWSTEEL) has commenced development activities for its integrated steel project in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh through its 100% subsidiary JSW Rayalaseema Steel Ltd.

Location: Rayalaseema region, Andhra Pradesh
Project Structure: The project will be developed in two phases:
- Phase 1: 1 MTPA (Million Tonnes Per Annum) integrated steel plant with investment of ₹4,500 crore
- Phase 2: Expansion to 2 MTPA capacity with additional investment of up to ₹11,850 crore
- Total Investment: Up to ₹16,350 crore
Technology: Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) technology using recycled scrap and high-grade Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) as raw material inputs
Product: State-of-the-art structural steel for infrastructure and urbanization requirements
Strategic Significance
The project is strategically located with planned infrastructure including road, rail, power and water connectivity. It is designed to be among JSW Steel's most sustainable steelmaking facilities with focus on operational efficiency, resource optimization and low carbon steel production. The project aligns with the company's decarbonization roadmap and sustainability objectives.

Company Background
JSW Steel is the flagship business of the JSW Group with current combined crude steel capacity of 37.9 MTPA (including 4.5 MTPA through JSW JFE Steel JV). The company plans to expand combined capacity to 54.8 MTPA over the next four years. The Vijayanagar plant in Karnataka is being expanded from 19.5 MTPA to ~25 MTPA by FY30.
Sustainability Context
The project supports JSW Steel's sustainability targets including reducing CO₂ emissions by 42% from steelmaking operations by 2030 and achieving net carbon neutrality by 2050 for operations under direct control.
