Board Appointment Details
Karnataka Bank has appointed Shri. Parthasarathi Periaswamy as Additional Director (Non-Executive, Independent) of the Bank effective from July 29, 2026. The appointment is for a period of four years and is subject to approval by the shareholders of the Bank as required under SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015 and applicable provisions of the Companies Act, 2013.
Director Qualifications and Experience
Mr. Parthasarathi Periaswamy brings over three decades of technology and cybersecurity experience at the highest levels of India's financial sector. His previous roles include:
- Former Chief Information Security Officer and Chief General Manager (IT) at the Reserve Bank of India
- Former Chief Technology Officer at the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT)
- Consultant to the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub
- Board Member of Indian Financial Technology and Allied Services (IFTAS) from 2019-2021
Professional Background and Expertise
At RBI, Mr. Periaswamy played a pivotal role in shaping national cybersecurity frameworks, modernizing mission critical infrastructure, and strengthening resilience across the banking ecosystem. At IDRBT, he directed IT infrastructure, trust services, and the national threat intelligence platform (IB CART). He also convened the CISO Forum and organized national cyber drills to foster collaboration and preparedness among banks.
Advisory Experience
Beyond central banking, Mr. Periaswamy has advised leading private sector banks on cybersecurity governance, policy reviews, and crisis management.
