Launch Overview
Kauvery Hospital inaugurated the Kauvery Breast Clinic in Trichy, a dedicated one‑stop centre staffed entirely by women surgeons and consultants. The ceremony was performed by actress Gautami and aligns with the hospital’s ‘Vaanga Amma Kitta Paesalam’ campaign, which encourages open discussion of breast health, as well as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the 2026 global theme "Every story is unique, every journey matters".
Breast Cancer Context
According to the World Health Organization, breast cancer accounts for an estimated 2.4 million diagnoses and 694,000 deaths worldwide each year; in India it represents over 190,000 new cases annually, roughly 14 % of all cancers.
Clinic Services and Team
The clinic consolidates screening, early detection, evaluation and treatment of benign breast diseases, genetic risk assessment, oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery, cosmetic breast procedures, psychological support, rehabilitation and, where required, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Care is delivered by an all‑women team covering breast surgery, radiology, pathology, oncology, gynaecology and psychology, allowing patients to discuss sensitive concerns in a comfortable environment.
Executive Remarks
Dr. D. Senguttuvan, Co‑Founder and Executive Director of Maa Kauvery, Trichy, stated that the clinic is designed to eliminate the need for women to move between multiple doctors for scans, biopsies or consultations, providing clear answers without delay. Dr. Megha B, Consultant Breast Surgeon at Kauvery Hospital, Trichy, emphasized that a supportive, women‑led environment can encourage timely medical advice and regular check‑ups.
