Launch Announcement
KBE (Krishna Buildestates Pvt. Ltd.) and Vigyanlabs Innovations Pvt. Ltd. will officially unveil FEMTO – described as India’s breakthrough sovereign AI platform – on 5 September 2026 at the JSS College of Pharmacy in Mysuru. The ceremony will be attended by Dr S. Somanath, former Chairman of ISRO, who will act as Chief Guest.
Strategic Partnership and Market Access
The launch follows a strategic partnership formalised through a joint venture named Kasvin, created by KBE’s subsidiary Krishnaa Advance Systems (KAS) and Vigyanlabs. Under the agreement, KAS holds a Right of First Refusal (ROFR) for the commercialisation, deployment and scaling of FEMTO‑based solutions across identified sectors, positioning it as the preferred partner for government, defence, enterprise AI, edge‑computing and data‑centre applications.
Investment and Environmental Benefits
The venture is supported by a planned investment of ₹100 crore over the next year. FEMTO’s design is fully air‑cooled, eliminating water dependency and delivering a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of under 1.3, compared with the industry‑typical range of 1.8–2.0. The platform claims a 50 % reduction in power consumption, a 30 % reduction in data‑centre capital expenditure, and total operating costs roughly one‑third of traditional facilities. A solar‑powered proof‑of‑concept data centre demonstrates a zero‑carbon‑footprint configuration.
Technical Specifications
FEMTO is offered in four modular variants that integrate computing, storage, networking, virtualization and orchestration within a single air‑gapped unit. The system runs on Virtune, an indigenously owned orchestration and virtualization hypervisor, and on IPM+, a patented intelligent power‑management platform already deployed across more than 6 lakh PCs and desktops globally, which alone reduces power use by 30 %. A FEMTO‑4 appliance supports AI models exceeding 400 billion parameters, delivering eight GPUs with a combined 768 GB of GPU VRAM while consuming less than 5.5 kW. The platform’s density and efficiency are described as virtually unmatched globally.
Engineering and Leadership
The platform was engineered by Srinivas Varadarajan, former senior executive at HP and Dell and Principal Architect of India’s Aadhaar data centre, who has built sustainable data centres worldwide. Vigyanlabs contributes over 18 years of deep‑tech innovation, holds nine US patents and has delivered more than 2,000 GWh of proven energy savings across prior deployments. Execution leadership is provided by Rahul Bahl, Managing Director of KAS, a third‑generation business leader with a track record of scaling ventures from inception.
Company Backgrounds
KBE, founded in 1949, is a Delhi‑based EPC leader with a portfolio of over 100 completed projects and extensive data‑centre execution experience. KAS, a subsidiary of KBE, focuses on technology execution, infrastructure development and data‑centre expansion, championing 100 % Make‑in‑India initiatives. Vigyanlabs Innovations Pvt. Ltd. is a deep‑tech leader specialising in sovereign private green AI, edge‑first cloud solutions and micro‑data‑centres, claiming up to 50 % infrastructure cost savings and an unmatched PUE of 1.2, consuming 80–90 % less energy than public hyperscalers.
