KCG College of Technology, a unit of Hindustan Group of Institutions, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sumeet Urban Services (Chennai) V Pvt Ltd (Urbaser Sumeet) to develop student‑led sustainability and waste‑management programmes in Chennai.
The MoU was signed in the presence of senior officials including Managing Director Albert Gleiser Ignacio, Zonal Manager S. Shankar, Head – IEC Komal Gotham Chand, Manager – IEC Vignesh from Urbaser Sumeet, and Director Dr Annie Jacob and Principal In‑Charge Dr G. Prabhakaran from KCG, with Chairman Dr Anand Jacob Varghese delivering remarks.
Planned activities comprise clean‑up drives, awareness campaigns, sustainability workshops, internships, hackathons, innovation challenges, research projects on waste segregation, recycling, circular‑economy models, and smart urban solutions.
Urbaser Sumeet will serve as the hygiene partner for major KCG events and will implement the “Edubridge” programme to support education of children of conservancy workers, fostering community engagement and social inclusion.
The partnership emphasizes the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and aims to create a scalable, replicable model for campus‑community sustainability collaborations.
