Overview

NEW DELHI, July 10 2026 – Kikkoman India announced the relaunch of Kikkoman Dark Soy Sauce (Revamped Version), a product developed specifically for the Indian market and now refined further based on extensive input from chefs across the country. The press release emphasizes that the upgraded sauce is intended to elevate Indo‑Chinese and Pan‑Asian cuisine in India, aligning with the company’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Product Enhancements

The revamp focuses on three core attributes:

  • Colour: Retaining Kikkoman’s ‘no artificial colouring’ principle, the sauce now delivers a deeper, more intense dark hue essential for signature Indo‑Chinese dishes.
  • Taste: Building on the naturally brewed umami profile, the flavour balance has been deepened to enhance the natural flavours of ingredients, providing greater depth and complexity.
  • Consistency: Viscosity has been optimised so the sauce clings flawlessly to rice, noodles and other ingredients during high‑speed, high‑heat wok cooking, improving handling and final presentation.

The formulation was co‑created with Indian chefs who tested prototypes in real restaurant kitchens. Feedback centred on how the sauce performed under roaring wok conditions, its colour intensity when heated, and its ability to retain umami richness.
