Press Release – 22 June 2026, Bengaluru
KRAFTON India disclosed a strategic investment in BITKRAFT Ventures’ Global Fund, reinforcing its commitment to nurture India’s rapidly expanding gaming and startup ecosystem. The announcement, issued on 22 June 2026, emphasizes that the partnership will channel capital, operational expertise and a global network to Indian founders developing gaming, interactive media and emerging‑technology products, with the fund targeting investments from the pre‑seed stage through Series A.
BITKRAFT Ventures’ Global Fund, described as a platform that backs startups across gaming, immersive technology, Web3 and AI, currently manages over $1 billion in assets under management and holds more than 130 portfolio companies. Its investment thesis, termed “Synthetic Reality™,” envisions digital worlds as central to future life, work and identity. In India, the fund has already backed early‑stage ventures such as Actioneer, an enterprise AI transformation platform, and AiroClip, an AI‑powered gaming studio, illustrating the breadth of entrepreneurial talent the partnership seeks to amplify.
For KRAFTON, the investment provides a strategic conduit to identify and support high‑potential Indian companies early in their growth journey, complementing its broader ecosystem initiatives that include incubation programmes and esports events. Since 2021, KRAFTON has invested more than $250 million across Indian startups operating in interactive entertainment, gaming, esports and technology. KRAFTON’s global footprint includes 19 creative studios under KRAFTON, Inc., headquartered in Korea, with flagship IPs such as PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, PUBG Mobile, Subnautica, Hi‑Fi Rush and others. In India, KRAFTON’s mobile titles—most notably BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI) with over 260 million downloads—underscore its market presence.
The release quoted three senior executives. Sean Hyunil Sohn, CEO of KRAFTON India, highlighted the scale and quality of Indian entrepreneurs and the global mindset of founders building products for worldwide audiences. Jens Hilgers, Founding GP of BITKRAFT, described India’s gaming and consumer‑AI ecosystem as being at a “thrilling inflection point” with emerging exits for global investors. Anuj Tandon, Partner (Emerging Markets) at BITKRAFT, noted that the partnership equips early‑stage builders with the capital and cross‑border expertise needed to succeed globally.
Together, KRAFTON India and BITKRAFT Ventures aim to broaden access to the capital, expertise and networks required for ambitious founders to transform promising ideas into globally relevant businesses, thereby accelerating the maturation of India’s gaming and digital entertainment landscape.
