Krishna GVK Luxury Hotels Limited announced its official name change following the issuance of a fresh Certificate of Incorporation by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on 30th October 2026.

The name change follows a shift in ownership structure. In December 2025, The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) sold its entire 25.52% stake in the company to the GVK-Bhupal promoter family. IHCL's nominee directors stepped down from the Board on 30th December 2025. The company, originally formed in 1995 as a joint venture between the GVK-Bhupal family and IHCL, is now entirely owned and led by the promoter family.

Despite the corporate name change, all hotels in the portfolio continue to operate under the Taj brand through long-term hotel management agreements with IHCL. The company emphasized that guests, employees, and partners will see no change in brand, service, or standards.

Current Portfolio

The company owns six operating hotels across multiple cities:

  • Hyderabad: Taj Krishna, Taj Deccan, and Vivanta Begumpet
  • Chennai: Taj Club House
  • Chandigarh: Taj Chandigarh
  • Mumbai: Taj Santacruz (held through subsidiary Greenwoods Palaces & Resorts Private Limited)

Growth Plans

The company is expanding into Bengaluru with Taj Yelahanka, which will be the first hotel to open under the Krishna GVK name. This 256-key luxury hotel is scheduled to open towards the end of November 2026, expanding the portfolio to seven hotels. The property follows the same ownership and operation model: owned by Krishna GVK and operated by IHCL under the Taj brand.

Management Commentary

Mr. Krishna Bhupal, Joint Managing Director, stated that the new name marks the start of a new chapter while maintaining the Taj partnership through management agreements. He highlighted the company's strong financial position, noting that even after completing the Bengaluru property, the company maintains minimal net debt and a strong balance sheet that positions it well for growth through both organic and inorganic routes.

Corporate Background

The Hyderabad-headquartered company has spent three decades building hotels across India and is known for its strength in weddings, conferences, and large-format events. The company combines a strong balance sheet with a focus on disciplined growth in demand-rich markets.
