Larsen & Toubro Limited announced through a regulatory filing that its business vertical, L&T Energy CarbonLite Solutions, has secured a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) from DVC CIL Power Private Ltd (DVCCIL) for a major thermal power plant project. DVCCIL is a joint venture of Damodar Valley Corporation and Coal India Ltd.

The project involves the main plant package of the 2x800 MW Chandrapura thermal power plant located in Jharkhand. The full Notice to Proceed will be issued once the project secures requisite environmental clearances and the LNTP period is completed.

Project Scope and Technical Details

L&T's scope of work includes comprehensive services for the project:

  • Design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing and commissioning
  • Supply of Boilers, Steam Turbines, Generators and Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs)
  • Associated mechanical, electrical, control & instrumentation works
  • Civil works

The project will utilize state-of-the-art 800 MW ultra-supercritical power generating units. This technology enables higher thermal efficiency and lower specific emissions, supporting reliable and efficient power generation.

Order Classification and Value

The order is classified as 'Major' under L&T's order classification system. According to the disclosed classification table:

  • Significant: ₹1,000 to ₹2,500 crore
  • Large: ₹2,500 to ₹5,000 crore
  • Major: ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 crore
  • Mega: ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 crore

This indicates the project value falls within the ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 crore range.
