Laser Power & Infra Limited has disclosed receipt of a Letter of Intent (LoI) from Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) for a turnkey reconductoring project in the Nalagarh Electrical Division, Himachal Pradesh. The disclosure is made pursuant to Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

Order Details

  • Client: Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL), a Government undertaking
  • Project Type: Turnkey reconductoring project
  • Technology: High Temperature Low Sag (HTLS) conductors using Aluminium Encapsulated Carbon Core Conductor (AECC) technology
  • Location: Nalagarh Electrical Division, Himachal Pradesh
  • Order Value: Approximately ₹4.15 crore
  • Project Scope: Supply and installation of HTLS conductors to replace conventional conductors, enhancing transmission capacity while utilizing existing tower infrastructure

Strategic Significance

This order represents Laser's first commercial deployment of advanced conductor technology under its manufacturing agreement with TS Conductor Corp., USA, executed in March 2025. The project utilizes TS Conductor's proprietary pre-tensioned carbon fibre composite core technology manufactured domestically by Laser in India. This possibly represents India's first commercial project involving TS Conductor's proprietary AECC technology.

Technical Advantages

The AECC conductors deliver 2-3 times the power carrying capacity of conventional ACSR conductors while significantly reducing line losses and maintaining minimal thermal sag under high operating temperatures. The technology enables utilities to carry substantially higher current without requiring additional right-of-way or tower replacement.

Business Development Context

Laser has prequalified and submitted bids for 18 transmission EPC projects of 66 kV and above involving reconductoring with advanced HTLS conductors. This HPSEBL order establishes an important commercial reference for the company's expansion in India's market for advanced transmission conductor solutions.

Corporate Background

Laser Power & Infra Limited, incorporated in 1988, is an integrated manufacturer of power cables, conductors and specialized products for the power transmission and distribution industry. The company operates three manufacturing units in West Bengal with a combined capacity of 85,448 MT. As of March 31, 2026, Laser has installed over 85,191 ckm of HT and LT distribution lines and commissioned more than 113 substations, completing over 43 projects with 34 ongoing EPC projects across multiple Indian states.

Management Commentary

Mr. Deepak Goel, Chairman & Managing Director, stated that this order validates the company's strategy of bringing globally proven advanced conductor solutions to India's power sector and positions Laser as a leading domestic provider of next-generation transmission conductor solutions.
