Laser Power & Infra Limited has secured contracts aggregating to ₹72.76 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited for the supply of High Temperature Low Sag (HTLS) conductors and reconductoring of two existing 132 kV transmission lines under the North Eastern Region Expansion Scheme-XXIV (NERES-XXIV).
The project covers approximately 164 circuit-km of existing transmission corridors and must be completed within 12 months from the Notification of Award.
Strategic Significance
This award represents Laser Power's first commercial order for HTLS conductors, marking the transition of its HTLS technology from product development and qualification to commercial execution. The company has access to an advanced conductor platform through its licensing arrangement with TS Conductor, USA.
The integrated nature of the POWERGRID mandate covers both conductor supply and reconductoring services, bringing together the company's capabilities across engineering, manufacturing, supply, installation and commissioning.
Management Commentary
Mr. Deepak Goel, Chairman and Managing Director, stated that this order is a "watershed moment" that translates nearly 18 months of focused work across product development, testing, qualification and execution readiness into the first commercial HTLS conductor order.
He emphasized that the HTLS platform can support higher power transfer through existing corridors while managing thermal sag, with potential benefits in conductor efficiency, transmission losses and installation.
