Appointment Overview

Leverage Edu announced on 22 September 2026 that Prabhakar Kalavacherla has been appointed as an Independent Director on its Board and will serve as Chair of the Audit Committee. In his new role, Kalavacherla will oversee the integrity of financial reporting, internal financial controls, statutory and internal audit, enterprise risk management, related‑party transactions and regulatory compliance.

Background of the Appointee

Kalavacherla brings more than 35 years of global audit, accounting and risk expertise. He is the first Indian professional to have served on the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), where he contributed to the development of IFRS 15 and standards governing financial instruments, leases and consolidation. He spent over 25 years with KPMG US across two stints: initially as an Audit Partner leading multinational engagements, and later as U.S. National Partner in Charge of Risk Management, Audit and Independence, as well as Regional Risk Management Partner for the Americas. He is a Chartered Accountant, a Certified Public Accountant, and holds a Master’s degree in Accounting from California State University.

Governance Enhancements

The board strengthening follows a broader governance build‑out over the past year. Leverage Edu has constituted a Nomination & Remuneration Committee comprising Independent Director Karan Khemka and two other non‑executive investor directors. The company also disclosed that it is actively engaging another Big Four firm to bolster its internal audit function and related processes. These steps are aimed at establishing the reporting discipline, board composition and control environment expected of a company of its scale ahead of a potential public listing.

Outlook

Founder and CEO Akshay Chaturvedi emphasized that as Leverage Edu grows, the discipline around reporting, risk accounting and control testing must evolve in tandem, and that Kalavacherla’s independent, technical scrutiny will strengthen the company’s financial reporting and risk oversight. Kalavacherla echoed this sentiment, noting the importance of robust financial reporting and risk management across multiple markets and regulatory environments as the company scales.
