Lord’s Mark Unveils Brahamastra Defence Tech
Lord’s Mark Industries Limited announced the creation of Brahamastra Defence Techno Products Limited, a subsidiary focused on developing and commercialising indigenous defence‑optical and electro‑optical systems for both domestic and export markets. The move reflects three years of focused research and development aimed at positioning India as a global supplier of specialised defence technologies under the Make‑in‑India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
The flagship portfolio comprises three products. The BRAK RT is a long‑range laser rangefinder combined with a day‑channel camera, offering a maximum measuring range of 20,000 metres, distance accuracy of up to one metre (1σ), detection of up to five targets, integrated GPS and orientation sensors, and IP68‑rated rugged construction suitable for demanding environments. The BRAK Alpha is a multipurpose laser rangefinder with a measurement range of 10 to 5,000 metres, accuracy of up to 0.5 metre (1σ), five‑target detection capability, and additional GPS, azimuth and inclination sensing for enhanced field use. The TRC‑1 smart trail camera provides still images of five megapixels or higher, 1080p video, a minimum 120‑degree field of view and invisible infrared illumination up to 10 metres; it incorporates role‑based permissions, audit records and stores video locally on the device rather than on a central platform.
Beyond these flagship items, Brahamastra’s wider portfolio includes holographic and reflex sights, telescopic sights, thermal imaging sights, handheld thermal imagers, day/night surveillance systems, anti‑drone systems and other optoelectronic equipment, all developed and manufactured in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Market data cited in the release indicate that India’s military electro‑optical and infrared (EO/IR) market is projected to expand from US$1.19 billion in 2026 to US$1.78 billion by 2030, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.4% (MarketsandMarkets). The global military EO/IR market is expected to grow from US$9.09 billion in 2025 to US$10.77 billion by 2031, at a CAGR of 2.87% (Mordor Intelligence). Growth is driven by increasing requirements for night operations, border surveillance, target detection and modernisation across land, air and naval platforms.
Lord’s Mark views these trends as a pathway to pursue international partnerships, product deployments and export opportunities, subject to applicable technical qualifications, regulatory requirements and procurement processes.
Commenting on the strategic vision, Dr. Sachidanand Upadhyay, Founder, Managing Director and CEO of Lord’s Mark Industries Limited, said that the company’s love for technology and belief in the Make‑in‑India vision led to the three‑year journey, aiming to harness India’s engineering talent to create world‑class indigenous defence technologies with global relevance and to eventually establish a recognised contribution to specialised defence technology on the international stage.
