Inauguration and Participants

On July 3, 2026, Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the restored Muzhiyan Kulam in Pooranankuppam village, Puducherry. The ceremony was attended by the Chief Minister of Puducherry Mr. N. Rangasamy, Lieutenant Governor Shri K. Kailashnathan, Rajya Sabha MP Mr. S. Selvaganapathy, senior ministers, legislative assembly members, government officials, and local residents.

Restoration Project Details

The restoration was executed by Lumina Datamatics, a strategic partner to global publishers and e‑commerce retailers, in collaboration with the Dhanasundarambal Charitable Society, local community stakeholders, and public representatives. The objective was to revive the traditional water body, strengthen water‑conservation efforts, improve water‑storage capacity, support groundwater recharge, enhance local biodiversity, and increase water availability for surrounding communities.
