- Form 47 in digital format mandatory for non-residents with PAN in India or required to obtain PAN
TDS for Resident Shareholders
Mutual Funds
- TDS rate: 10%
- Exemption if self-declaration of eligibility under Schedule VII of Section 11 of Act provided, along with self-attested SEBI registration certificate and PAN card
Insurance Companies
- TDS rate: 10%
- Exemption if self-declaration of full beneficial interest provided, along with self-attested IRDAI registration certificate and PAN card
Category I and II Alternative Investment Fund (AIF)
- TDS rate: 10%
- Exemption if self-declaration of establishment as Category I/II AIF under SEBI Regulations and eligibility for exemption under Schedule V of section 11 provided, along with self-attested registration certificate and PAN card
New Pension System Trust
- No TDS if declaration provided with valid self-attested documentary evidence of exemption under Act and regulation under Indian Trusts Act, 1882, along with self-attested PAN card
Other Entities Entitled to Exemption
- No TDS if valid self-attested documentary evidence of TDS exemption submitted
Other Resident Shareholders
- TDS rate: 10% on dividend payable unless exempt under Act provisions
- No TDS if aggregate dividend during financial year to individual shareholders does not exceed ₹10,000/- and PAN card provided/available
- No TDS on furnishing valid Form-12B along with self-attested PAN card (if eligibility conditions satisfied)
- NIL/lower TDS on submission of self-declaration with supporting documentary evidence and self-attested PAN card
- NIL/lower TDS on submission of valid certificate issued under section 395(1) of Act for lower/nil deduction or exemption certificate from income tax authorities along with declaration
PAN Compliance Requirements
- TDS deducted at 20% for shareholders without PAN, invalid PAN, PAN not linked with Aadhaar, or PAN not registered in account
- Company relies on information verified through Income Tax website utility
- Shareholders without updated PAN considered 'specified persons'
- Shareholders must ensure Aadhaar linked with PAN as per prescribed timelines
- Unlinked PAN considered inoperative, resulting in 20% TDS rate
- For multiple accounts under single PAN: Highest applicable tax rate applied to entire holding
Shareholder Actions Required

- For dividend income assessable to person other than registered shareholder: Declaration with details of actual person (name, address, PAN) and reasons must be provided by 1 October, 2026
