On July 6, 2026, MAMS Hospitals celebrated the birthday of its Managing Director and Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Puvvada Nayan Raj, by announcing the completion of more than 100 free total knee replacement (TKR) surgeries, of which over 40 were performed in the latest phase of the initiative.

Programme Details

The free knee replacement programme provides completely free surgeries, including imported implants, to patients who are economically disadvantaged and suffer from severe knee disorders, with the objective of restoring mobility and improving quality of life. In addition to orthopaedic care, the hospital has been distributing free maternity kits and now offers a financial assistance of ₹5,000 for the birth of a baby boy and ₹6,000 for the birth of a baby girl to eligible families, aiming to support mothers and encourage the birth of girl children.

Leadership and Oversight

The initiative is overseen by Executive Director Mrs. Puvvada Aparna Raj and Superintendent Dr. Brigadier P.S.K. Patel, who affirmed that the surgeries are performed in accordance with international standards by experienced orthopaedic surgeons, anaesthesia specialists, nursing staff and physiotherapists. Former Transport Minister and Chairman of Mamata Educational Society, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, reiterated the Society’s belief that quality education and healthcare should be accessible to every deserving individual and pledged further expansion of such welfare programmes.

The event was attended by Dr. Puvvada Nayan Raj, Mrs. Puvvada Aparna Raj, Dr. Brigadier P.S.K. Patel, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, other doctors, nursing and physiotherapy staff, administrative officials, hospital employees, public representatives, eminent citizens and members of the media.
