Manipal Hospitals announced the first-ever couple open‑water swim from Sri Lanka to India, covering ~32 km across the Ram Setu route.
Athletes Danish Abdi and Vrushali Prasade will start on May 6, 2026 from Talaimannar, Sri Lanka, aiming to finish at Dhanushkodi, India in 8‑12 hours.
Group COO Karthik Rajagopal highlighted the swim as a symbol of India‑Sri Lanka cultural ties and Manipal’s health‑connect for Sri Lankan patients.
The initiative seeks to place India on the global open‑water swimming map and reinforce the hospital network’s “care beyond boundaries” philosophy.
