On Monday, 5 October 2026, the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) of Manipal University Jaipur announced a four‑day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) conducted in collaboration with IIMBx, the digital learning foundation of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.

Inaugural Session and Dignitaries

The programme was formally inaugurated in the presence of Pro‑President Cdr. (Dr.) Anil Rana, Director of CDOE Dr. Mallikarjun Gaddapa, Dean of the Faculty of Management, Commerce and Arts (FoMCA) Dr. Brijesh, and senior representatives from IIMBx including Chairperson Shainesh G., Sitaraman Shankar, Dr. S. Naga Siddharth and Vijaya Tripathi, together with the IIMBx and SWAYAM technical teams.

Expert Support Team

A team of more than thirty experts contributed to the sessions, among them Shweta Shree, Raksha B., Manikandan K., Erwin Fernandes, Diljith Kannan, Nidhi A.C., Vishal C. Reddy, Sushma Nayak, Varun P., Bhumika Arora, Kalaiarasan R., Megha Srinivasan, Rajamohamadu Jeeyavudeen, Aarya S. Kumar, Malhar Patel and Anjali Alex. These experts led modules on course design, digital content development, technology integration, studio‑based video production, instructional design and SWAYAM course development.

Programme Structure – The 3D’s

The FDP was organized around three stages – Design, Develop and Deliver.

Day 1 – Design

Faculty participants learned to identify online learner needs, develop learner profiles and align learning outcomes with course content and assessment. They created module outlines for their subjects and drafted video scripts based on the designed courses.

Day 2 – Develop

The focus shifted to Artificial Intelligence and digital content production. Participants were introduced to generative AI fundamentals, its applications, strengths, limitations and associated risks. Training also covered active‑learning activities and studio‑based educational video production, with faculty recording learning videos and receiving immediate expert feedback on delivery, pacing and use of teaching aids.

Day 3 – Deliver

The final stage addressed the evolving landscape of online education, the role of AI as a teaching and course‑design assistant, and assessment development. Faculty were trained to develop varied assessment forms, align them with learning outcomes and use AI to generate question banks subject to faculty validation. The day concluded with a showcase and peer review of participant‑developed educational videos and an orientation on course approval and launch through the SWAYAM platform.

Final Day – Presentation and Closing

On the fourth day, participants presented their complete course blueprints in groups before an expert panel comprising members from IIMBx and Manipal University Jaipur. Each group displayed its learner profile, course/module outline, sample script or video, learning activity, assessment design and launch plan, followed by expert and peer feedback. The programme closed with remarks and certificate distribution by IIMBx CEO Sitaraman Shankar.

Statements from Organisers

Dr. Mallikarjun Gaddapa, Director of CDOE, emphasized that higher education is rapidly becoming digital and learner‑centric, requiring faculty to acquire capabilities beyond subject expertise, including online course design, AI‑enabled teaching and outcome‑based assessment. He noted that the FDP aims to develop high‑quality courses that meet contemporary learner needs.

Shainesh G., Chairperson of IIMBx, reiterated that the programme’s objective is to give faculty practical experience across the entire online course development lifecycle—from learner identification and framework development to scriptwriting, AI‑enabled content creation, studio recording, learning activities, assessment and online delivery—thereby strengthening the quality of digital education at Manipal University Jaipur.

Significance

The collaboration leverages IIMBx’s digital learning expertise and Manipal University Jaipur’s academic ecosystem to provide faculty with a hands‑on, outcome‑oriented platform for creating modern, technology‑enabled, learner‑centric courses, ultimately aiming to enhance the institution’s digital education offerings.
