Clarification:
- The clarification is in response to a news item appearing on "www.Hindubusinessline.com" titled "Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders decides to not proceed with the Thoothukudi shipyard project"
- MDL has been selected as the Anchor Shipyard for proposed Greenfield Shipbuilding Industrial Clusters at Dighi, Maharashtra and Dugarajapatnam, Andhra Pradesh under the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision (MAKV) 2047
- The company is presently focusing on the development of these two proposed clusters
- MDL had earlier explored development of a greenfield shipyard at Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu
- The Thoothukudi project was not pursued further following the decision of a Joint Venture company formed by Tamil Nadu State Government entity and V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority to select another shipyard as the Anchor Shipyard for the proposed Thoothukudi cluster
