Mercedes-Benz Sells Athlon, Gains Hundreds of Millions

Mercedes-Benz announced the sale of its Athlon leasing subsidiary to BNP Paribas, expected to generate hundreds of millions of euros in liquidity.
The deal, decided end‑2025, was finalized in April 2026 and should close in H2 2026, subject to approvals.
Mercedes-Benz did not disclose the sale price, while its finance chief highlighted the liquidity benefit during the quarterly earnings report.
Mercedes-Benz shares rose 0.61% and BNP Paribas fell 1.29% following the announcement.
