Microsoft Corp introduced Scout, an autonomous AI executive assistant, at the Build developer conference in San Francisco.
Scout appears as a distinct entity on internal email and calendar systems, unlike ChatGPT or Copilot which serve individual users.
Charles Lamanna, head of product development for Microsoft’s business applications teams, explained Scout can independently handle tasks, request meeting reschedules, and answer colleague queries.
Pricing details were not disclosed; Scout will initially require a subscription to GitHub Copilot and will be billed based on usage volume rather than a flat fee.
Microsoft plans to incorporate more AI products into standard subscription bundles as AI model costs decline, launching a new bundle called E7.
Currently only a small portion of Microsoft’s subscribers pay for Copilot, indicating growth potential for paid AI services.
