Mitsubishi Electric India Inaugurates Centre of Excellence at CGC Landran
On 1 October 2026, Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd. officially opened a Centre of Excellence (CoE) on the campus of Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran in Mohali, Punjab. The inauguration was led by Mr. Atsushi Takase, Managing Director of Mitsubishi Electric India, and attended by senior representatives from both Mitsubishi Electric India and CGC Landran, including Vice Chairman Parampal Singh Dhillon, Campus Director Dr. Rajdeep Singh, Director Principal Dr. Sukhpreet Kaur, Head of Department Dr. Vinay (ECE), and Director Academics Dr. Ashok Kumar, along with other directors and deans.
The CoE, described as the first facility of its kind established by Mitsubishi Electric in North India, is designed to provide engineering students with practical, hands‑on exposure to factory automation and Industry 4.0 technologies. It is equipped with training systems covering programmable logic controllers (PLC), human‑machine interfaces (HMI), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), AC servo systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), industrial robotics, collaborative robots (COBOTs), computer numerical control (CNC) machines, and additional automation equipment. Mitsubishi Electric India will also deliver training programmes for CGC Landran faculty, enabling them to impart the same practical knowledge to their students and sustain application‑oriented learning.
Mr. Takase emphasized that while technology evolves rapidly, people are the drivers of progress, and the CoE represents a “meaningful step in bringing industry and academia closer” and offering young engineers exposure to technologies they may use in future workplaces. Dr. Rajdeep Singh highlighted that the centre brings advanced factory automation technologies into the classroom, reinforcing CGC Landran’s commitment to producing skilled engineers for modern manufacturing.
The establishment of the CoE aligns with Mitsubishi Electric’s broader engagement strategy in India, aiming to develop industry‑ready talent and raise awareness of automation, robotics, and digital technologies among the next generation of engineers. It also supports the objectives of India’s National Education Policy (NEP 2020) by fostering skill‑focused, industry‑relevant education.
Mitsubishi Electric’s global background is noted: the parent company, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503), recorded consolidated revenue of ¥5,894.7 billion (approximately US$36.8 billion at an exchange rate of ¥160 = US$1) for the fiscal year ending 31 March 2026.
