Announcement

Mobius Foundation announced that it will host the 8th International Conference on Sustainability Education (ICSE) on September 2‑3 2026 at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. The two‑day conference, themed “Sustainability Education for Transformative Action,” is positioned as a platform to shift sustainability education from mere awareness to the development of skills, leadership and capacities required for systems thinking, innovation and collective action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Theme and Objectives

Chairman Pradip Burman emphasized that “the road to 2030 is a race against time” and that progress on every SDG depends on education that translates knowledge into action. President & CEO Priyanka Sharma added that sustainability education must become an enabler of the green economy, fostering pathways for green careers, entrepreneurship, and large‑scale innovation across the entire education continuum.

Speakers and Participants

Opening addresses will be delivered by Sunita Narain, Director General of the Centre for Science and Environment; Dr Vibha Dhawan, Director General of TERI; and Kartikeya Sarabhai, Founder Director of the Centre for Environment Education, alongside Mobius Foundation leadership. Additional distinguished participants include Ravi Singh, Secretary General and CEO of WWF‑India; Dr Radhika Khosla of the University of Oxford; Ms Poonam Muttreja, Executive Director of the Population Foundation of India; Mr Arpit Sharma, CEO of the Skill Council for Green Jobs; Mr Pranshu Singhal, Founder and Director of Karo Sambhav; Dr Rajbir Singh, Deputy Director General of Agriculture Extension, ICAR; Dr Janak Palta McGilligan, Padma Shri awardee; Ms Harshika Singh, IAS, Government of Madhya Pradesh; and Mr Ashok Khosla, Founder and President of Development Alternatives, among other global voices.

Plenary Session Topics

Across ten plenary sessions the conference will examine green economy and green careers, sustainable innovation at scale, recycling and critical minerals, sustainable agriculture and just rural transition, population stabilisation and health systems, women as climate change makers, youth and climate action through the Youth for Earth (Y4E) Conclave and Awards, and environmental education and global cooperation.

Expected Outcomes

The event will conclude with the presentation and formal adoption of a set of recommendations that will provide a framework for further policy and institutional engagement on sustainability education.
