The Ministry of Defence signed a contract valued at Rs 661.50 crore with BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited (BAPL) on October 6, 2026, in New Delhi for the procurement of BrahMos Fire Control System and Launchers for Indian Navy ships. The contract was signed under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) Category and was witnessed by Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh.
The project features a minimum of 68% indigenous content, encouraging active participation of various Indian industries including MSMEs. The contract is expected to generate employment over a period of three years and bolsters India's maritime security architecture and defense capabilities. This procurement marks a critical milestone in ongoing efforts to indigenize advanced military technology.
The BrahMos System, which is fitted onboard various frontline warships, serves as the Indian Navy's primary Surface to Surface Missile (SSM) system for maritime strike operations. The weapon system is capable of targeting both land and sea targets from extended ranges with pinpoint accuracy at supersonic speeds.
