MongoDB (NASDAQ:MDB) stock rose more than 3% on Tuesday following a Bank of America Securities research note. Analyst Koji Ikeda reiterated a Buy rating and set a $540 price target, citing renewed confidence in the company’s long‑term artificial‑intelligence strategy. The note followed a group investor meeting co‑hosted by Bank of America and MongoDB’s management, which addressed recent executive leadership changes and competitive pressures from traditional database providers such as PostgreSQL.
Ikeda emphasized that MongoDB’s JSON document database remains differentiated for enterprise digital modernization and AI, positioning the firm for durable growth. A central catalyst highlighted was the recently launched Atlas Infinite platform, which separates compute and storage capacity, allowing each to scale independently. This architecture is presented as especially attractive for unpredictable, AI‑driven “agentic” workloads that require rapid scaling.
Bank of America updated its financial estimates to reflect higher long‑term operating targets, projecting annual total revenue growth above 20% and GAAP profitability beginning in fiscal 2027. The firm raised its fiscal 2028 revenue forecast by 3% to $3.65 billion and its fiscal 2029 forecast by 6% to $4.39 billion. Correspondingly, non‑GAAP operating margin projections were lifted to 21.9% for FY2028 and 22.9% for FY2029.
The $540 price target implies more than 40% upside from current levels, based on a valuation multiple of 12.0 times calendar‑year 2027 expected revenue. Analysts argue that a premium valuation relative to software‑infrastructure peers is justified by MongoDB’s faster top‑line growth trajectory. Going forward, investors will monitor Atlas revenue growth and net expansion rates as primary measures of the Infinite platform’s real‑world adoption.
