Montran India Summit 2026 – Overview

On Tuesday, 25 August 2026, Montran India, the Indian subsidiary of the global financial‑infrastructure technology firm Montran, convened the second edition of the Montran India Summit in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The event brought together senior leaders from banks, financial institutions, regulators and market‑infrastructure bodies to deliberate on the next phase of India’s digital financial ecosystem.

Theme and Keynote

The summit was held under the theme “India – Watched by the World. Building What’s Next.” Hon’ble Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar, Maharashtra’s Minister for Information Technology, Electronics, Artificial Intelligence and Cultural Affairs, delivered the keynote address. He emphasized that while the previous decade focused on democratising access to finance, the coming era must democratise intelligence through responsible AI, insisting on “security by design, accountability by design and inclusion by design” as non‑negotiable pillars for future financial systems.

Corporate Perspective

Montran India’s CEO, Julie Esca, highlighted that India has completed the first phase of its fintech journey by achieving “extraordinary speed, scale and adoption.” She stated that the next phase will be defined by trust, built transaction‑by‑transaction via resilient infrastructure, stronger authentication, fraud detection and reliable technology. Esca noted that Montran’s solutions are being shaped to meet the demands of one of the world’s most demanding financial markets while also enhancing Montran’s global product capabilities.

AI‑Led Payment Intelligence Showcase

As part of the programme, Montran demonstrated its AI‑led Payment Intelligence platform, illustrating how artificial intelligence and greater automation can strengthen fraud and risk‑management functions in increasingly complex digital‑payment environments.

Capital Markets and Settlement Discussions

A panel on capital markets examined how India’s instant‑payments revolution has paved the way for a rapid transition to T+1 securities settlement, with the market positioning itself for a future move to T+0. Participants also discussed tokenisation, internationalisation of securities and the efficiency gains these technologies can deliver to India’s large and fast‑growing investor base.

Payments Infrastructure Panel

The second panel explored how banks and financial institutions can build more resilient, scalable and AI‑enabled payment systems for an always‑on digital economy. The discussion underscored a broader shift from building payments infrastructure at unprecedented scale to enhancing it with faster settlement and AI‑driven risk management.

Participants

Senior representatives from NSDL, NSE Clearing Limited, IFSCA, Bank of India, Axis Bank and Montran India contributed to the panel discussions, sharing perspectives on the evolving payments and capital‑markets landscape.
