Munters Explores Sale of FoodTech Business
On Tuesday, Munters Group AB announced that it will explore a potential sale of its FoodTech business unit, which operates under the Speria brand. The company described FoodTech as a global business developed over the past decade, functioning largely as a standalone operation with a separate customer base, distinct sales approach, and product range, and with limited operational overlap with its Data Center Technologies (DCT) and AirTech divisions.
Munters said that divesting FoodTech would enable it to accelerate growth plans for its DCT and AirTech businesses and would also create growth opportunities for FoodTech under new ownership. The firm stated that FoodTech has reached a size and maturity level where a dedicated owner could better support continued investment and expansion.
"FoodTech has developed into a high‑quality business with strong customer relationships, differentiated solutions and attractive long‑term market fundamentals. We are proud of what the team has built and believe FoodTech is well positioned to pursue its next phase of growth under ownership dedicated to its strategic priorities," said Klas Forsström, President and CEO of Munters.
Stefan Aspman, currently President of DCT and future President and CEO of Munters, added that the sale would create a more focused company: "With greater flexibility to allocate capital, management attention and resources to invest in our strategy, we will be well positioned to drive innovation, support our customers and deliver sustainable value for shareholders."
Munters indicated that it will provide updates on the potential sale as the process develops and affirmed its commitment to FoodTech’s customers, employees, and operations during the review. Evercore has been engaged as the financial advisor for the potential transaction.
